Privacy

This page describes what downtempo.org does on its own pages, and links to the policies of third-party services when you choose to visit or load them.

On This Site

Downtempo.org (“the site”) does not run ads, sell visitor data, create visitor accounts, provide contact forms, or ask for names or email addresses on the site.

Cover artwork displayed by the site is cached and served locally to reduce third-party image requests. Artwork remains owned by the original artists, labels, and rightsholders, and release links point back to the source pages.

Hosting And Analytics

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which may process routine request, security, routing, and performance data. Cloudflare describes its own privacy practices in its Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare Web Analytics may be used on the site for aggregate traffic and performance insight. Cloudflare describes that product in its Web Analytics documentation, and it is also covered by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Bandcamp in-page content players are click-to-load on the site. Bandcamp should be contacted only after you press play. Bandcamp describes its own privacy practices in its Bandcamp Privacy Policy.

Radio station players, where the site shows them, are click-to-load: nothing is requested from a station until you press play. On play, audio comes directly from that station’s own servers, and stations the site links to instead open on the station’s own site. The site loads none of a station’s player, scripts, or tracking widgets, and downtempo.org sets no cookies of its own. What a station does on its own servers, including any cookies or logging, is governed by that station’s privacy policy.

Donations to support the site via Ko-fi happen on Ko-fi, not on downtempo.org. Ko-fi describes its own practices in its Ko-fi Privacy Policy.

Outbound links to external websites, including but not limited to artist, label, streaming, store, and database sites, are governed by those sites’ own privacy policies.

Disclosure

Some music covered on the site may be received free from artists or labels for review. Some content or placements may be sponsored. Where that is the case, it will be clearly disclosed.

Changes

This policy may change as the site evolves. If new services, sponsorships, partnerships, or data practices are introduced, this page will be updated to describe them and the “updated” date above will change. Material changes will be reflected here rather than applied silently.
